At Housman, almost everybody participates in the Accelerated Reader Program.   After a student has read an "AR Book" they take a short computer quiz on the contents.  AR is a commercial program designed to improve comprehension and vocabulary as well as develop a life long love of reading. Students earn "points" based on combination of the books difficulty and how carefully they read the material.  "AR Points" cumulate throughout the year.
