Future of Libraries
as presented to Ysleta ISD Librarians

Session 1
8:00 AM - 9:20 AM

Introductions (Barry to group, Ysleta Librarians to Barry) (10 minutes)
Norms (signal-"May I have your attention please" [2 things: 1) finish sentence, 2) focus eyes on speaker] (5 minutes)

Review where Ysleta Libraries are and the charge from the Superintendent (10 minutes)

Introduce the State Library Program Standards (5 minutes)

Divide into 6 teams of 3+ each (Facilitator, Recorder, Time Keeper) (each group work on a laptop) (40 minutes)
Each group take a Standard from the State Library Program Standards
Read it, discuss it, identify the essential characteristics (exemplary)
Discuss the advantages, discuss where Ysleta is, discuss the barriers for attaining, discuss the solutions to the barriers
Display results (on laptop) for viewing during break

BREAK = 9:20 AM - 9:40 AM

Session 2
9:40 AM - 11:00 AM

Each group share knowledge gained about Standard to the group (project onto screen) and discuss 
Each group has 5 minutes to present and 7 minute to discuss, (I will make comments and the other groups can ask questions or make contributions)

LUNCH = 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Session 3
12:30 PM - 1:30 PM

Advocacy (studies of Libraries and student achievement) 

Use Advocacy principles to determine what the decision makers at Ysleta (School Board, Superintendent, Administration, Community) would want to accomplish and might be moved toward accomplishment by Librarians' help.

BREAK = 1:30 PM - 1:50 PM

Session 4
1:50 PM - 3:30 PM

Prioritize all the things Ysleta could do to become exemplary in every category.

Determine how to write it up.

Determine how to present the plan

Determine how to accomplish the plan

CLOSURE = 3:30 PM - 4:00 PM
