Spring Branch Independent School District
Technological Roles of SBISD Libraries
For the 21st Century
Concept Statement |
|
TO:
Create Spring Branch school libraries which are technology rich
learning
environments that promotes interactions among all stakeholders
IN A WAY THAT:
Resources |
- Information and other resources are readily
available and accessible (classroom, library and/or off-site).
- With centralized support, an evolving collection of
resources (print and non-print) is selected and maintained for their
relevance to the curriculum and the enrichment of all users.
|
|
Teaching and Staff Development |
- Librarians are technologically proficient in the
use of resources in a variety of formats.
- Patrons of the school libraries will be able to
access, retrieve, analyze, evaluate and use information in any form.
|
|
Environment |
- The school library is a safe, secure environment
used by students, staff and school-related community members.
- The library is a comfortable place that promotes
life-long learning and attracts users for research, browsing,
pleasure reading, and interaction.
- Library design is flexible to meet needs of groups
and individuals.
- The library is a physical location within each
school that serves as a dynamic hub of the learning community.
|
|
Support |
- The district cataloging system is maintained and
up-dated for integrity and consistency.
- Appropriate, reliable, convenient equipment is
available on-site for performing all necessary functions.
|
SO THAT:
Learners can use the tools
necessary to keep learning to make data become
information which
becomes
knowledge. |
