Concept Statement

To:
- Provide learning support to all students, staff, parents, and
community members in SBISD!
In a way that:
- Supports student studies and personal interests.
- Arranges a student-centered environment where students can learn
and be successful.
- Supports teachers as they prepare to support learners.
- Makes available curriculum development support.
- Provides professional development for staff about information
literacy.
- Offers leadership, collaboration, and technology support for
literacy initiatives and research initiatives.
- Maintains functional, welcoming Library facilities.
- Functions as the hub of the school by connecting
resources to learning.
- Researches the best resources available then selects and gathers
what materials are appropriate for the local learning community.
- Manages learning resources through selection, cataloging,
processing, etc.
- Is service oriented.
So That:
- Student success and love of reading and learning increase.
- Research competencies in students and staff are extended.
- Critical thinking skills are supported.
- Quality materials are provided.
- State-of-the-art facilities with leading technologies are
developed and maintained.
- Welcoming environments are created and maintained.
- Collaboration occurs on all initiatives that may involve
learning resources and learning.
- Connections are made between learner and resources regardless of
time or place.
- Students and staff are more comfortable using technology to
access information.
