Superintendent’s Parameters

            Dr. Katz has set the following parameters to help guide the budget process.  These parameters will be very helpful to the Budget Project Team as they work to define the Core Education Program.  The parameters are as follows:

q       Provide access for all students to curricular and extracurricular programs.

q       Create lean central administrative corps.

q       Protect the classroom from cutbacks.

q       Protect the school campus administrative and leadership corps from cutbacks.

q       Increase in the numbers and diversity of students in Gifted and Talented and Honors programs.

q       Continue the development of challenge and rigor in courses at all levels particularly focusing on the possible development of an International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

q       Provide safety and security of all students, staff, parents, and community members in all schools and facilities.

q       Demonstrate the integrated use of technology in every classroom and office in the district.

q       Fully develop each student to be successful and become a service-oriented adult.

q       Create learning and working environments free from intimidation.

q       Create consistent, coordinated, and realistic alternatives for struggling youngsters at each campus.

q       Continue to create a coordinated, articulated program of pre-career opportunities for all students.

q       Develop the mindset that resources shall be limited and that frugality will be honored.

q       Grow a representative number of incubated, part-time programs into full-time, full-day programs.

q       Develop a long-range infrastructure plan to provide replacement of equipment and preventative maintenance of facilities and capital assets.
