Lesson  Plan:              

                      Brainstorming Questions

                                for Research

Objective:  The student will develop questions for guiding their research.

 

Materials:  Paper, Markers

 

Procedure/Instruction:

          Begin discussion on looking at end project and what students need to know for the final product.

            Develop questions that will help students utilize information that is appropriate for their topic.

            Use the 5 question words (who, what, when, why, how) as guiding through developing the actual questions.

Guide students into developing questions that will take more than a yes/no answer.

Guide students into being curious about their subject looking into different angles depending on subject.

Write down questions as students call them out.

 

Closure/Evaluation: Evaluate the questions on the brainstorming list.  Select the questions that will actually be used for the research project.  Send students out to begin researching to see if their questions are able to be answered.

 

Comments:  This lesson can be adapted for multiple research projects.
