Major Functions and Responsibilities: |
The person in this position assists staff and students in the use of
Library Media Center (LMC) resources and equipment and performs routine
clerical duties related to the operation of the LMC. |
|
Examples of Key Duties: |
CIRCULATION RELATED DUTIES: |
|
Assist students and teachers in location of print
and non-print resouces.
Check books and materials in and out to students and teachers using the
computerized circulation system.
Maintain records of overdues, lost books, and fines.
Monitor student use of the library.
Shelve print and non-print materials.
Direct student assistants in assigned duties.
Assist LMS with inventory procedures.
CLERICAL DUTIES:
Maintain patron barcodes.
Assist in ordering and processing of new materials and equipment, making
items available for teachers and students.
Process and maintain periodical files.
Perform typing/keyboarding duties as needed.
Filing
Assist in maintaining the appearance of the library.
Mend damaged books and prepare books for bindery.
Xerox
Monitor fax machine.
MULTI-MEDIA RELATED DUTIES
(In some schools some of these duties are assumed by an audio-visual aide)
Assist in the training of teachers and students in the use of the online
catalog and databases.
Assist teachers and students in the operation of equipment.
Distribute equipment for use in classrooms.
Maintain equipment records and assist with inventory.
Perform minor repairs, such as lamp changes.
Write work orders for equipment that requires more than minor repair.
Maintain adequate supplies for equipment and library.
Assist in in-building channel broadcasts.
Assist in maintaining and orderly center with machines and resources
readily available.
Provide multi media production assistance.
Assist in scheduling and distributing equipment.
Assist in the preparation of bulletin boards and displays.
Perform other related duties as required. |

This person is directly responsible to the Building Principal |

Qualifications:
The person in this position should have the following credentials: |
High School graduate or GED
Ability to operate audio-visual equipment, computers, and various office
machines.
Ability to communicate and work with adults and students effectively.
Basic typing/keyboarding skills (40 - 50 wpm).
Ability to be organized and flexible. |
