Q&A
1. To those vendors that prefer, give a large range of barcode numbers on one order, then do not give a range on subsequent orders. We suggest between 1,000 and 5,000 unless the vendor has a different recommendation.
2. If the vendor is willing to give two shipments and receive one payment after the last shipment, consider allowing the vendor to backorder, but for no more than 60 days.
3. All orders should be sent by the end of February.
4. When using copied records, take of 998 & 999.
5. Tag 008 - In original cataloging, it is automatically added by LMS (Gateway's Library Management System). If copied, theses dates probably need to be corrected. Use LM304, tab down, and change the line.
6. Tag 246 v. tag 740 - 246 is subtitle and is the most prevalent.. Tag 740 is a stand alone title that might occur in a Story Collection.
7. Tag 523 - where the video format is placed, ex. VHS.
8. CF is the designator for computer software (not CP or MM, or etc.)
9. Don't use Juvenile Literature in the 600's tags (subject headings). When downloading subject headings, be sure to check and correct the wrong ones.
10. Librarian does not have to use brackets in the 245h tag. LMS will automatically generate them. If they are typed, the system strips them and re-adds them.
