Education
Liz, Vaughn, and Barry are
designing a class to be offered to teachers (5 times before Christmas) that
will better prepare them to handle Facebook at school. This class will be
designed so that Librarians can replicate the class at their campuses.
Librarians do NOT have to have a Facebook account. Librarians DO need to be
able to discuss the issues surrounding Facebook.
Divide into groups (HS, MS, two
Elementary) and discuss these 5 statements:
1. Examples
of how Facebook could be used appropriately at school.
2. Teaching
appropriate digital presence on the social networking web. (Bulletin
Board, privacy
settings)
3. What are
appropriate and what are inappropriate uses of Facebook.
4. Issues
around teachers monitoring the computer screens.
5.
Suggested consequences for inappropriate use of Facebook.
Share what your group would
recommend for each of these 5 statements.
